A Christian Family Guide to Disney+

What is worth watching, what needs discernment, and what to skip.

Disney+ is the streaming service most families sign up for first. The library is massive — and not everything in it is what you would expect from Disney.

Here is a faith-rooted breakdown of what to reach for and what to think twice about.

The safe zone (Heavenly/Blessed).

The Disney and Pixar animated classics are largely safe territory. Moana, Tangled, Frozen, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Ratatouille all earn strong ratings from Threshold. The Pixar shorts collection is also a hidden gem for younger viewers.

Bluey is the standout TV series — the single best family show on any platform.

The discernment zone.

Marvel content on Disney+ ranges widely. Some films (the original Avengers, Spider-Man: Homecoming) sit in the Discern tier — mild-to-moderate concerns that most families can navigate with conversation. Others (Moon Knight, Loki, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) lean into occult themes, moral ambiguity, and darker violence that pushes toward Guarded.

Star Wars content is similarly mixed. The original trilogy is largely Blessed territory. Andor and The Acolyte carry heavier themes.

What to skip.

Disney+ now includes content from the former Fox library and some mature-rated titles. Make sure parental controls are set — the default profile does not filter these. Deadpool, Logan, and several R-rated Fox films are on the platform and easily accessible if controls are not configured.

Our recommendation.

Disney+ is one of the better streaming services for families — but it is not a safe zone by default. Use Threshold to check individual titles, set up kid profiles in the Disney+ settings, and browse by streaming service in the Threshold app to see what earns a Heavenly or Blessed rating on the platform.
