When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. When you use the app, we store your household profiles, saved ratings, watchlist, and preferences so they sync across your devices.
Your data is used solely to operate the Threshold service — personalizing ratings for your household, saving your library, and enabling features like Grace (our AI guide). We do not sell, share, or trade your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Conversations with Grace are processed in real-time by our AI providers (Anthropic) to generate responses. Chat history is stored locally on your device for up to 24 hours and is not permanently stored on our servers. A lightweight memory of past conversation topics is stored locally on your device to improve Grace’s helpfulness across sessions.
We use the following services to operate Threshold:
These services receive only the minimum data necessary to perform their function.
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. Authentication tokens are transmitted over HTTPS. We do not store payment information — all transactions are handled by Apple (for iOS) or our payment processor.
Threshold is designed for parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Household profiles created for children are managed entirely by the parent account holder.
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing hello@threshold.family. You may also export or delete your data through the app settings.
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use of Threshold after changes constitutes acceptance.
